IRIGP is a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt.of India, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA), Govt. of the Republic of Rwanda to scale Indian innovations in Rwanda by facilitating G2G, B2G and B2B engagements.

The IRIGP aims to match the socio-economic needs of Rwanda by linking the Rwandan public and private enterprises with leading edge Indian technologies and innovations. The programme aims to achieve the following key objectives:

1. Match Indian technologies and innovations with the needs assessment provided by NIRDA.
2. Generate skill and development to create successful enterprises.
3. Focus on scaling innovations with wider societal benefit and ensuring last mile delivery to the needy population.
4. Promote Indian and Rwandan (African) SMEs.
5. Further the UN Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals, whilst generating widespread socio-economic impact development in India and Rwanda (Africa).

• Soliciting specific applications and shortlist technologies and innovations from India based on the identified needs of Rwanda
• Soliciting Expression of Interest (EoI) from Rwandan entrepreneurs and shortlist entrepreneurs to be matched with the Indian side
• Match most promising 10 Indian & Rwandan entrepreneurs and conclude 10 joint programs/ventures annually
• Formalize G2G, B2G & B2B relationships and mechanism
• Ensure B2B connectivity: Showcase appropriate Indian technologies and innovations, select, handhold & mentor sustainable social enterprises.
• Smooth transfer of technologies and innovations to joint programs/ventures and build capacity through:
  • Expos in India
  • Roadshows, business acceleration meet and tech expos in Rwanda.
  • Business strategy, legal & IP advisory to selected project/venture partners in Rwanda.
  • Training workshops in India
    • Visit by Rwandan (African) business partners and senior government officers to India to witness Indian success stories of the selected innovation / technology.
    • On-site, hands-on training in India.
    • Entrepreneurship and innovation management.

Only companies registered in India, running a sustainable business with operations in India &/or overseas and desirous of collaborating with Rwandan entrepreneurs should apply to IRIGP.

As per the needs assessment shared by National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA), Govt. of the Republic of Rwanda; following are the sectors where we seek applications.

Companies, which have a technology/innovation/product beyond the listed focus sectors (or value chains), can select “others” and mention the sector under which their innovation falls.

IRIGP is looking for matured technologies/innovations, which have already been commercialized in India. The technology with which an Indian entrepreneur will apply should have demonstrated through evidence that is works. The programme is not for early stage technologies that are in the proof of concept or prototype stage.

The Programme will provide capacity building and business development support to the match-made Indian entrepreneurs.

The Programme will provide capacity building, business development support and hands-on training to the match-made Rwandan entrepreneurs.

It would be an added advantage if the Indian enterprise has applied for/has been granted IP protection.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA) in Rwanda would assist in the technology transfer process and procedures.

Yes, an Indian enterprise can apply to more than one sector as long as the technologies are different.

A Rwandan enterprise may submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for multiple Indian technologies.

The Programme will deploy 20 demonstrated and validated Indian technologies and innovations over a period of two years. The joint projects/ ventures created with Rwandan partners will deliver at least 20 sustainable social enterprises that will stimulate economic impact development in Rwanda.

The programme term is of two year with two cycles of 12 months each.
